A Nursing career today holds the greatest employment potential in the world. Also ongoing advances in technology which are helping people live longer, healthier lives have made nursing even more rewarding to those who like developing their skills in this area. Nurses today are the largest single component of any hospital staff - the primary providers of hospital patient care. The importance of the nurse as the primary health care provider has increased exponentially. On one hand he / she is required to have high degree of skills in providing life support systems in well equipped hospitals and on the other hand he/she is the principal advisor in preventive and promotive health care in the community. Specialization in different fields of nursing care is also increasing. The role of the nursing professional as hospital and healthcare administrator, educator, research worker is also being recognized increasingly. The scope for growth therefore has hence increased considerably.
